When selecting a tent there are a few different things that need to be kept in mind. Tents come in a wide variety of styles and configurations.
The first would be the size of the tent and the number of people that will be sleeping inside of it. Tents are usually rated based on the number of people it can accommodate.
Secondly, the season in which the tent is going to be used should be considered. Tents are designed for certain weather conditions, and should be purchased to handle the appropriate season in which it will be used. For example, a three season tent will be fine in the fall, but should generally not be used in the winter. When unsure, it is better to get a tent that can handle more extreme weather.
Finally, the weight of the tent should be thought about. This is more of a concern for someone who is backpacking as opposed to someone will primarily use the tent for car camping. For the serious lightweight enthusiast, there are models available that are extremely lighter than other models of the same style and size.
With some research and frugal shopping, to the right tent for the right person can easily be purchased.
