It is fun to use a multimedia approach toward shoe design. Rocket dog boots are a great example of a product that endorses the multi-disciplinary approach to shoe manufacturing. Traditionally shoes and boots have been constructed in a manner that may assimilate one or two products into their design. An all leather shoe might be soled with a polypropylene wedge. Or a canvas sneaker might incorporate a rubber sole that transitions into the canvas upper portion. The trend in some fashion footwear portfolios is to experiment with the blending of a multitude of fabrics and substances to create the final product.

Advances in the materials available have provided a launching point for some of these designer’s efforts. Faux fur has advance in construction to accurately represent the original real animal hide counterpart. Several varieties of furs are now emulated with ease, and without harming any animals. The fur stand-ins are more durable and exhibit a greater tendency to contribute warmth than their historic predecessors. As a result, fake fur has found a significant place in shoe manufacturing. The furry substance is integrated into modern footwear as an insulator and as a fashion forward aesthetic component. It is paired with natural leather at times to create a more organically inspired experience for the wearer. Other synthetic materials like nylon and polyester are incorporated to promote durability and offer a contrast in texture. When the melting pot of materials is stirred around a bit, the resulting shoe output is varied and diverse.
